What concerns you most about privacy on the web and why?

In today’s digital world, privacy might have totally different definition. Currently, people post their contact number, address, eduation status or even working history on Facebook, Twitter, LinkIn and etc. It is obvious people use the social media to connect everything such as friends, family, news, products and life. Social media create the sharing environment; however, people’s privacy might not as secure as it used to be. Imaging your boss, strangers, criminals, lawyer or even government try to get more information from you via your Facebook account. In addition, more and more people concern about companies use Facbook users’ hobbies or favorite activates to target their consumers. In my opinion, social media is a huge trend that impact everyone’s life and its hard to avoid. When people sign in any social media account, basically they automatically agree that some of their information will be share to the public. As a result, people should be really careful what to post and what not to post on the web. I believed that will be the only way to protect your personal privacy.

In the business perspective, I think it is necessary that marketing department target specific target markets and need to design promotion and customer services. Some people might think this kind action will consider unethical. But as long as the companies did not sell their customers private information to others, I believed it is okay that they focus on certain specific group of customers through social media. In the other hand, consumers still have the right to “like” the brand and purchasing decision; therefore, it could not only benefit the companies but also the customers need and want. The following video might make you think deeply about how Facebook might effect to your job and maybe it’s the time to lock or clean some of your Facebook picture and information in order to secure your privacy!!
