What concerns you most about privacy on the web and why?

The issue of privacy first arose in the 1890s where there was a massive growth of the reach of newspapers and the wide-spreading use of cameras and listening devices. They defined privacy as the "right to be left alone" which is also known as the seclusion theory. With the introduction and epidemic growth of internet coverage, people's privacy are now being exploited and their personal informations are sold and exchanged between corporations. Privacy issues grow concurrently with the reach of the internet.

What I think is most concerning about privacy on the web is identity theft. Today, literally anything we can think of can be bought off of the internet. We can browse millions of items worldwide and purchase them with a single click. With that said, we do not know who have access to the informations we are giving up, for instance the shipping information and more seriously our credit card number. Hackers around the world are trying to bust security systems and operate identity thefts.

The other thing that I found concerning is the inability to rely on the government in regulating privacy-related issues. There is a time lag for the government to implement or pass a law, and on the other hand the internet world just does not stop evolving.
