Create an Enjoyable Experience

One of the headings found in Chapter 7 of E-Marketing is Enjoy. The authors write, "One of the internet's big promises...is audio and visual entertainment." People love to look at cool pictures or videos while browsing a website. If you do not give them something interesting to look at, why would they take the time to visit your site? This is a marketing principle that a company such as Jones Soda should have no problem implementing.

Jones already has an excellent website. It allows customers to submit their pictures for a bottle, order customized bottles through myJones, and browse the various products; all of this is accomplished in a cool, hip way. Also, it displays a live twitter feed on the bottom of the page. This allows visitors to see what people from around the world are saying about Jones in real time. All of these add up to one great browsing experience. Of course, there is always room for improvement, and that is where I come in.

In keeping with the ideas presented in Ch. 7, I would suggest more videos throughout Jones Soda's website. They are doing a great job with artistic graphics and pictures, but they are lacking in video media. I have suggested before that Jones create their own YouTube channel. I would further this idea by saying that they should also have a videos page on their website. This could include customer reviews, new things happening at Jones, an overview of a new product, and/or advertisements created especially for the web -- the sky is the limit. Today more than ever people love to watch something as opposed to read about it. Why? Because it is easy, convenient, and put plainly, it takes less thought. We live in a television obsessed culture, and this obsession spills over to the internet. A good article might attract 1,000 people, but a good video could attract 100,000 people. Whether good or bad, video and images beat writing every time.
