The most important legal or ethical issue related to the Internet

I think that the most important legal or ethical issues related to the Internet are related to privacy and confidentiality. Since we now do almost anything on the Internet, a lot of our information is saved in various databases. Browsers record our activities and a lot of websites track what we bought, viewed, etc. This information could be collected and may reveal someone’s identity. It is very important for company to be able to ensure the security of their customers’ privacy and confidentiality as some companies sell these data.

In relation to Internet security, I can’t help but think of the issue concerning Playstation Network a couple of weeks ago where their servers had been hacked. This resulted in loss of millions of Sony’s customers’ data, which consequently meant that Sony had to take down their servers for an indefinite amount of time. Sony had not been able to resume their service until just a few days ago. With the announcement, Sony tried to compensate their customers with a ‘Welcome Back Package’ that enables their customers to gain access to free downloadable contents.

Another important factor to consider is the issue of copyright. A lot of images, videos, and basically a lot of copyrighted things are available on the Internet. This makes it very easy for someone to unknowingly use someone else's copyrighted image or video without permission. It will be very important for Light Rail to consider these things in order t avoid problems about copyright in the future.
