TheTipping Point and Social Media Trends

Social Media Trends:
The social media trend was by far the most interesting trend of them all. The mere obsession the world has with their online "virtual self's" is fascinating and a great segue for marketers to reach niche demographics. Face book is ranked number one with online usage with no surprise there. The most puzzling trend was my space viewers have diminished significantly in the last couple years. IT maintains its hold on the number two ranking category with 50 million visitors in December. It seems that link in has become fairly popular in that it tapped into a new market for social media which is the business sector. The only quirk about the trends presented was the statistics did not include cell phone app. usage.

The Tipping Point:
The psychology behind the tipping point reminded me much of "blink". Blink is more on a prudent level of how human's make very decisions (often times subconsciousness based on past experiences. Whereas the tipping point was analyzing patterns and various factors that much have a great deal of influence on a particular trend. Out of the three factors Gladwell explains to influence trends the Law of the Few, the Stickiness Factor, and the Power of Context; I think the law of the few is the most vital of the three. "The Law of the Few contends that before widespread popularity can be attained, a few key types of people must champion an idea, concept, or product before it can reach the tipping point."
