Socialnomics Chapter 5-9

In the Chapter five, I have learned that people make a decision very quickly because of their family and friends or social media more than Google. When I think deeply, I think it make sense to me why people behave on this way. First, when we use Google before, we want to get the solution and result as soon as possible. However, now, when we type some keyword on Google, the first few pages pop up which are all about website which under control by big companies. Actually, what consumers looking for are about other people’s comments. Therefore, People would like to use social media or asking their friends and family because they get the answers quickly. Especially, when we use social media, we just type the questions; the answers will find us because our friends will leave the message on our social media pages. In my opinion about Google situation, I would suggest that they should at least one spot for blogger or users’ comment on the first page of searching engine; this tool at least can gain back consumers focus from social media back to Google.

Another example I have learned is “Become a modern day pied piper (page.149-150)”. In this example, I learned that when followers read our post on social media, we need to create a chance by allowing them to engage. Social media is one way to let people express their opinion. Same in the book example, followers follow Rick and tweet about their opinion because followers know that their opinion might hear and show it on TV.

Lastly, “You don’t find a job, it find you” is an interesting topic. Since LinkedIn become bigger and bigger, employers are easily look at people profile by social network. However, I have some concern about LinkedIn. When we post picture on this kind of social website, some employers still have bias on outlook (I didn’t mean all of them). They might go to invite good-looking people for the interview. The good thing is that some employers would like to use social media to find potential workers.
