4/14 blog entry

  1. What do you believe would be the most effective way for Seattle University to recruit students and why? Pick two and explain please.
Firstly I would use ambassadors to generate word of mouth on parents and high school seniors. I believe choosing which college to attend to takes more than just nice online ads. This is a big decision to make and I believe sending ambassadors would really be an effective way because parents are the ones with the most influence on the decision.
Secondly I would use e-mails to targeted high school seniors. Receiving an email from a .edu address would stand out more and high school seniors would feel an appreciation of an invitation to a particular college.
The reason I choose these two as opposed to the viral alternatives is to maintain the exclusivity of the school. Using viral marketing campaigns could make the university image become generic.

  2. Pick an online coupon you have used or would use and explain where you found it, why you use it, and why it's a benefit to you as a consumer.

The only online coupons that I have used are pizza coupons. I just google for coupons every time I order a particular pizza and it will all show up. I use it because it actually takes very little effort to get. It is a benefit for me as a customer because I am saving $5 or so on every order.

  3. How do you feel about getting ads on your cell phone in the form of coupon codes that would offer you 50% discounts or two-for-one at your favorite restaurant?
I guess it would depend on the frequency of the ads. As long as my phone does not ring twice a day to receive those ads I would feel benefited by it since it is my favorite restaurant.
