2010 Digital Trends

Online Advertising has improved greatly through 2010. With 4.9 trillion display ads seen by internet users, and shifts in the ways that advertising is shown, Advertisers are showing us signs that they are understanding where and how to put their money into Advertising.

Advertisers are making changes to the way they approach internet users. As people are spending more time on social media sites, there are more advertisements appearing on these sites. Not only is it a positive thing that money is being put into more advertisements, but it is great that marketers are beginning to understand how to effectively use advertisements on the internet. For example, Facebook's advertisements are tailored to each individual user.

It is said in the article that in the future, advertisements will continue to move onto the internet, and that there is a focus on a holistic form of using advertisements. Marketers will try to find ways to measure data from end to end in the "digital advertising ecosystem," in order to fully understand and utilize advertisements. I am very excited about the direction of Advertising in the Digital Age. Companies are trying harder to bring relevant ads to internet users, and because of this, ads are becoming bearable (and sometimes even enjoyable). Not only are the ads becoming relevant, it is exciting to see that Marketers are looking for ways to try and measure all data from before an ad campaign to after when it is complete. The internet is accessed so much differently than traditional media that it will be interesting to see how they effectively do this.
