Spending time on social media makes you more productive

Through social media, we can almost find any information you want, keep track on what we want to follow, keep in touch with our friends and family and so on. The technology now keeps improving by the pushing of the huge rely and usage on the social media. Social media enables us get information instantaneously and free. For example like the Sally's case given in the first chapter, she used the 10 minutes of spare time while waiting on board to turn into 10 productive and enjoyable minutes. I greatly agreed with this because personally I am a huge time spending Facebook users. Even if I am not giving comment on any people's status, through Facebook, I can at least know what they are up to and what is happening around the world. This kind of media link people up globally and internationally. Moreover, traditionally we have to search and look up for recent news, however, now its the news find you. There are many news pop-up while we are going online in many websites. We can keep updated by what is happening around the world without having a hard time purchasing newspapers or even subscribing them.

The power of Internet

Obama would not be president without the Internet. During the element for 2008 US president, Obama implemented a promotion strategy via Internet. He asked Facebook to create a page for him and have a group of people to monitor the page. They would post the related news, videos and all the related information about Obama and put their effort on drawing people's attention in order to gain potential votes from the public to support Obama. Through this, Obama can get instant feedback from the public, their requirements and they wish to get out of that recent economy. By collecting those information, Obama can tailor speeches and presentations that have a great fit to the general public and pitch how he would do if he can be elected to be the next US president. Therefore, once his commitments were out, people would feel that Obama was the one who can speak to their heart. Same theory can be applied to all the business.

Businesses don't have a choice on whether or not to DO social media, their choice is how well they DO it.

Traditional way of doing will not work for business in this heavy social media dependent world. Obviously those businesses that are still not participating in social media are definitely fall a lot behind then any other businesses which are doing it. Nevertheless, personally speaking, promoters and marketers are having a greater challenge in achieving their goal when compared to the past. This is because in the past, doing media campaign to advertise and promote need a considerable sum of money to process that. However, now the whole idea change; you just have to be creative to be succeed in promoting your brands or products. And the related cost can be really low. For example, making good use of YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and so on, these kinds of free social media that can bring you connect to the rest of the global world. In additional, because of all this low cost entry to the market, it is so much easier for others to substitute you. Therefore, sustain your brands or products becomes a huge challenge to all the businesses. Therefore, I think in order to make your business differentiate with others, no matter you need to have a good control of your operation and management, but marketing with social media and focusing on Customer Relationship Management is a really important tacit to gain competitive advantage over the others.
