Ch. 13 E-Marketing book

1. How effective do you believe online display advertising is compared to other media and why?

Nowadays many pople,including me, are irritated with pop-ups window advertisement. They just immediately close the window when they see it. Also there is a blocking pop-up window software. Therefore Display Ads are now more useful compared to pop-up window advertisement. These ads contain more graphics and white space than text, and include traditional banners and many additional sizes. Display ads also help build brand awareness when viewed by site visitors.

2. Why do you believe "Will It Blend" has been so successful?

The very first time i saw this WIll it Blend ad was on youtube. It showed will the very first iPhone blend? At first i thought this wasn't an ad this was just a stupid person wanted to show does an iPhone can be blended in a blender. Until last Tuesday Joe told us that Will it Blend is an advertisement promoting its blender product. After i read an article on Chapter 13 E-Marketing book, i am surprised that Blendtec sales increased 500 percent in the first year after the video series began. The way Blendtec advertise its product is very smart. By showing how strong the blender is on Youtube - which is cost-free to post a video, consumers would think this blender is so powerful it can blend anything.

3. Name what you believe are the three most important rules for successful e-mail marketing and explain why.

a. Make it easy for users to unsubscribe. Sometimes there is an email advertisement that is hard to unsubscribe and even when i pushed the unsubscribe button, the email ads are still coming. I feel like this hard to unsubscribe is just not fair and stupid. Also by making it easy it can builds trust.

b. Use an e-mail address that is professional.For example, Firstname.Lastname@companyname.com. Do not use email from Yahoo, Hotmail, or GMail. I often thought if i get an email from an unprofessional email address is a spam, or virus so i just immediately delete it.

c. A small improvement in creative layout and multimedia use in e-mail can raise response rates up to 75 percent, according to MailerMailer.com. Well i feel the same whenver i see an email advertisement that has unique, attractive layout, and interesting offer, i would definitely go check it out.
