Ethics:
As professor said in the last class, ethic is what you do when no one is watching. There are no certain rules/ laws, but there are guidelines. Just like the WOMMA’s ethic assessment tools, it is not required to follow and go through those 20 questions; however, these 20 questions give us a guideline for being ethical. I remember when I took the ethic class earlier. My professor mentioned that sometimes not being honest to your customers might help us gain in a short term; however, being honest and ethical help companies in a long run and it is the only way to keep your customers because people talk.
What I want to talk about is honest and privacy, and these two factors also are the core values that the member of WOMMA shares. They believe that customers should be able to have their own opinions and should be able to share them freely at the same time. On the other hand, members should also respect and promote the respect of customer’s privacy.
This remind me of how a lot of people selling customer’s information to others. In Taiwan and Hong Kong, there are even companies that collect people’s phone numbers and sell the list to other company. Just last night when I was having dinner with my friend, he told me that his parents got a call from a tutor company and saying that my friend got very low grade at school. The company was trying to ask my friend’s mom to bring him to extra tutor class. The point is, the company has never met my friend; they just got the phone numbers list from the phone list company and “BS” to people.
