Gaining trust takes a very long time (years/month depends on the context and audience) but to loose trust may only takes up less than a minute. This is how tough gaining and maintaining trust between consumer and marketer. All business people of course wants fast and loads of net profit. Some companies even sacrifice their "trust" between them and their consumer just for that. They cheat, lie, manipulate, etc just to gain more money but at the end, they loose it all. In this case, some companies can re- gain trust for years but some companies will just have to go down because they cannot survive anymore without the consumer's trust. It is very tempting to play the game outside the rule, it may be a short-cut to big money but risking a companies' name is not the way to go. From where I am from, bribing still exist in most companies, even the government. For example if there is an opening project for a highway construction. This matter relates to the government because they are the one who fund the project, using the citizen's tax money. However, the rules are different than in the U.S, which ever leading company are able to bribes the most (no matter if it does not have the best system/material) will get the project. This has made citizens to look down on the government for encouraging such activities and that is why Indonesia will always be a third world country. Unless they change their government system, it will be very hard for this country to rise up. This are one of the times that I thank god I am half Singaporean. Although I am only a student, I believe that I have to build my trust towards all the people that I am surrounded with. This way, I can practice to learn building trust and it will surely help me to be known as someone that can be relied on later in the business world.
