Hello Everyone,
I found today's reading interesting, but very dense in nature. Much of the languaging was difficult for me to comprehend, so I just want to spend some time talking about the few key points that really stood out to me.
First, I thought the fact that personalization features continue to be one of the least used tactics, but are also reported by companies to be the most effective was an interesting discovery. As it states in the article, this suggests that allow marketers see the value of personalization, the hurtles they feel they will have to cross to implement this tactic are too large. In my opinion, this is a poor excuse. It is proven that personalization features are highly effective, so why wouldn't a company hire someone specifically trained in this area to implement these tactics?
This got me thinking for my own personal project and his website. I understand that Pike Street Press is still a young business with a great deal of growth to be had, so the website feature I'm about to describe could only be implemented when more online orders are coming to the company. The personalization feature would track what you have ordered and suggest items for future orders. This feature could also allow you to plug in things such as your favorite color, holidiay, etc. and you could get email alerts when new products are designed that would fit your specific liking.
I also learned from this article that multi-media product viewing draws the most effective rating. This could be in the form of videos, integrated images, Flash, audio, etc. Although this type of social media can sometimes involve more effort, I think it would be important for Sean to incorporate this aspect into the social media for Pike Street Press. One idea I had would be for him to make an interesting video of the letterpress in action, and post the video on his website and YouTube. This will help customers and those who visit the site see how cool letterpress really is, and hopefully spark further interest to buy the product.
Well, that's all for now!
Until next time,
Rache
