WOMMA Code of Ethics

A code of ethics is incredibly important for any business or organization. Simply striving to remain ethical is not enough. There needs to be a written document that outlines what can and cannot be done when representing the organization. WOMMA has done this well. It not only provide guidelines and standards for its members, but it provides a 20-question assessment tool that helps members stick to these guidelines. This not only aids in the struggle to remain ethical, but it provides anybody that works with WOMMA some piece of mind.

From what I read in WOMMA's code of ethics, the most important aspect is to "lead by example and adhere to ethical standards that even may exceed those required by law." There is a great deal of information packed into such a short statement. First of all, it is important to lead by example. It is beneficial for an organization to be seen as a leader, but it is even more so to be seen as a positive leader - one whom other organizations strive to be like. How is this done? Let us look at part two of the statement. It is done by adhering to ethical standards that go beyond those required by law. Abiding by the law is a given. If this is not done, WOMMA will not be around for long. Going above and beyond is what gives an organization that extra bit of influence. Everyone wants to work with someone who is willing to give 110% when it comes to remaining ethical. When a client develops the right level of trust with a company, positive word of mouth will travel at the speed of light.
