What I learnt from Andy Sernovitz: Word of mouth marketing

The reason why I took Marketing major is because I need to fill in as an marketing expert in my family's company of Derivatives Exchange. I got 6 brothers and sisters and we have promised each other to study well and bring up this new develop company by our self. Both of my elder brother has graduate with a summa cum laude in Finance degree, my older sister has graduated in master degree with Management and Accounting major. Now it is my turn to proof that I will not loose and get the most out of my marketing classes and bring it to the real world. This book is eligible to be one of the golden key to my success, that is how fantastic this book is. Andy Sernovitz is a genius. It is easy to read, easy to understand(although I am an International student). I love ALL the quotes that Andy Sernovitz has provided int he textbook,it is relevant to the class, straight forward and sharp as a knife, no B.S attached.
One of my favorite quote and of course the one that still stuck in my mind is "Satisfied customer who will spread the word of mouth are the most powerful assets you have." There will be thousands of customers that I will be dealing with one day and they all will have different moods,culture,background,situation and much more but we have to stick in a single most important foundation of marketing which is to make them happy and satisfied no matter what happens to us or the situation we might be in. It could be that your car got towed, you woke up with a pain headache, maybe your secretary bail out on you early in the morning or your boyfriend broke up with you. So many reason but only 1 fact that you can rest on which is to make your customer happy. This is a very tough challenge for me because I am known to have major mood swings. I get happy,sad,anxious,etc easily. Maybe I have to take a mood-stabilizer class aside from marketing classes to be a better marketer. (Joking)
I know as a matter of fact that if I make customers happy, I would'nt have to invest so much on advertising because if I really do a great job,then at least 50% of the advertisement will be free which is by word of mouth. Before I enroll in this class, I am very worried because after my 3rd quarter here in Seattle University, I have not yet learn anything about the real deal of marketing. However, this class is the real class I have long await. I am very thrilled to learn more from Professor Barnes and the books we are going to read in this course. I am hoping that this class will help me to bring higher net profit to my company and also shine in the future by first of course, knowing how to do marketing.
