QR Codes

Since QR code is becoming one of the cheapest and easiest marketing tools to use, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend my client (a homemade ice cream company) to adopt it for marketing purpose. They can use QR codes in several ways.

To give customer updated information about events or campaigns:

Big fans always would like to be updated about the upcoming events or campaign. For example, when the client have a promotion like "get free 1 scoop of ice cream when taking picture of yourself with the shop and bring the picture with you to the shop on specific date," the customers definitely don't want to miss it since it's such an easy way to get free ice cream.
Although customers can find information about the event by visiting the shop's Website, which the link is provided on the poster, customers do sometimes have a hard time to memorize the URL on the poster once they got home. With QR codes, they can just scan it and all the information they need showing up. It's very convenient and save their time.

To surprise customers with discounts and coupons:

Customers love to shop when they get special offers like "$1.00 off coupon" to use when buying new flavor ice cream. However, it is wasting their time if they have to come to the shop just to get the coupons. My client can just give them out through QR code scanning.

One aspect to remember regarding QR code using, anything customers gets from scanning the QR code shall be valuable, not be available elsewhere and surprising.

Moreover, as the article mention, the client must not forget to accompany the QR code with some message under it, stating how the code can be used; otherwise, the code is useless.
