Mobile Dominates

After reading this survey it is very clear that mobile marketing rules the playing field. This surprised me a bit because I wasn't aware of the exact magnitude that mobile advertising has grown to in the past few years. I always thought that mobile advertising and interaction would grow rapidly, but wasn't sure exactly how that would happen, and how companies would quantify their ROI.

Another interesting piece of info from the survey was that businesses with more than $100 million in annual revenue will mainly focus on mobile and social features this year. This makes sense because these companies have a large customer base so they need ways to communicate with them quickly and with maximum ease. However, these companies often have a lot of regulations restricting how they communicate, how often they send out message, what they can say, etc, so even though they may want to focus on these platforms this year they have a lot of factors that restrict their message. Because of that it makes sense that smaller businesses are at the forefront of cutting edge media techniques and marketing.

In accordance with that train of thought I think that General Biodiesel really has some flexibility when it comes to utilizing social and mobile media. They should consider creating an Android and/or iPhone app that allows the user to see where they can buy biodiesel anywhere in the country, and what restaurants donate their vegetable oil. GB could also offer tips for drivers on what else they can do to help with the "green" movement. They would have a lot of success with this app because most people that use biodiesel are concerned about the environment, and want to support other organizations (ie restaurants) that have beliefs that align with theirs.
